Fifteen-year-old Alma lives in a remote Norwegian village, a world that she finds too cramped and too boring. Her hormones are all over the place: she wants to live out her sexuality here and now! She has no choice but to rely on her rampant imagination or to satisfy her curiosity by calling sex chat lines. An embarrassing incident occurs when she gets close to her classmate and heartthrob Artur at a party. Hot off the press, Alma immediately tells her friends what just happened, but nobody believes her. In fact, Alma becomes the laughing stock of the whole school. From now on she has to tackle life as a misfit. But when her mother gets her hands on the telephone bill for the sex chat line, enough is enough: Alma decides to take control of her own destiny. With a great eye for detail and subtle ironic humour, this film explores the emotional world of a teenager, and a society overwhelmed by the self-assured sexuality of Alma.
