“You’re invisible” – it’s a soul-destroying verdict for a budding actress. Fine is a shy and delicate young woman. She has immense strength when caring for her mentally handicapped sister, but lacks self-confidence as an actress. So she’s not the only one who thinks the world has gone mad when Caspar Friedmann, famous director of the municipal theatre, turns up at her drama school scouting for talent, and chooses Fine for the title role in his latest stage production of ‘Camille’. Fine is the absolute opposite of her stage character, who is not only self-confident and sexually aggressive, but also fragile and self-destructive. For this reason, Fine is all the more eager to throw herself into the part, and slowly lets the character of Camille slip into her daily life.
