by Leopold Lindtberg
1943 in Northern Italy. Two soldiers, a Brit and an American, escape from a German prison truck. While in a remote mountain village, they meet a priest hiding Jewish refugees, who convinces them to take a number of these desperate souls on the dangerous journey across the snow-capped mountains into neutral Switzerland. This is their last chance. In collaboration with Praesens Film, Cinémathèque Suisse, Memoriav and SRF, Zurich Film Festival once again presents the restored version of a Swiss cinema classic. Leopold Lindtberg’s award-winning, internationally acclaimed drama DIE LETZTE CHANCE is one of the most important productions in Swiss cinema history. It was recently screened at Cannes within the "Classics" section.
