by Leopold Lindtberg
The pastor of a 17th century Zurich rural parish is so infatuated with hunting that this passion threatens to rob him of his office and dignity. At the same time, a young vicar is madly in love with the pastor’s daughter, who is already promised to a captain. Now everyone is hoping for help from the famous general and cousin of the pastor, who promises to set everything straight with a clever plan and a defective pistol. In collaboration with SRF, Cinémathèque suisse, Memoriav and Praesens-Film, ZFF is once again proud to present the restored version of a Swiss cinema classic. Director Leopold Lindtberg and screenwriter Richard Schweizer have brought Conrad Ferdinand Meyer’s light-footed novella to the screen in 1942 for Praesens-Film.
