Day Is Done

Thomas Imbach|DOK: Porträt

Sights from an atelier in the industrial area of Zurich. A series of messages on an answering machine. Twenty bygone years. Ten songs. These are the elements that make up Thomas Imbach’s autobiographical tale. With a little patience, a rich variety of things can be seen from an atelier window: a smoking chimneystack, passing trains, the play of light in different weather, people in the courtyard. The filmic condensation of unspectacular, everyday occurrences creates a complex mosaic, which exerts a strange fascination. As humorous as it is poetic, DAY IS DONE is both a self-portrait of the filmmaker and a silent homage to the city of Zurich and its people.
