Day After… / Anyadin…

What if a river could tell stories? On the ancient paddle steamer "Rocket," passengers from all walks of life are transported across the Ganges from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Filmmaker Kamar Ahmad Simon roams the crowded decks with his camera, where influential politicians take their seats alongside day laborers and foreign tourists. There is singing, drinking and heated discussion. The captain skilfully steers the ship through the shallow waterway, past picturesque landscapes. With fine situation comedy, DAY AFTER captures the voyage of a ship that is more like the miniature of an entire country, condensing the experience of an adventurous journey into a highly entertaining evening at the movies.
