Who is the man behind the creator of the world-famous ALIEN creature? The artist HR Giger produced frightening and disturbing, yet curiously aesthetic critters. The place we run from was the place he felt most at home, what we fear was where he lived, what we suppress, he brought to the surface. He mapped our nightmares and sculpted Man’s deepest fears. But Giger did not relish in creating this world of horror, he did it because he had no other choice. It was how this loveable, humble and humorous man kept his own fears in check. HR Giger lived in the centre of Zurich in a timeless, almost self-contained parallel universe. Here, behind closed shutters, the boundary between day and night was blurred.
