Chile, 1973. Entangled in the military coup against President Salvador Allende, Lena and her boyfriend, Daniel, become caught in the claws of Augusto Pinochet’s secret police. Lena is quickly set free, but Daniel soon finds himself in an isolated, underground prison camp in the south of the country. Under the leadership of the shady lay preacher Paul Schäfer, the ‘Colonia Dignidad’ has the appearance from the outside of a charitable religious community. In reality, however, the sect is working side by side with dictator Pinochet – using the camp to torture and kill political prisoners for him. Lena joins the dubious group in order to free the one she loves. Based on actual events, COLONIA is a riveting political thriller.
