Mertkan, lethargic and melancholy, still lives at home at the age of 21 and works as an office boy in his father’s building company. One day he will take over the business from his father. His everyday life in Istanbul offers him security and structure – but the thrill factor is missing. Mertkan often hangs out with his friends in shopping centres and discos. But when he meets a Kurdish girl named Gül, he discovers a new sense of purpose. Unfortunately neither his friends nor his family approve of his love for Gül, who belongs to an ethnic group which his traditionalist relatives believe is trying to split the nation in two. Is Mertkan strong enough to stand up for his relationship and fight for his happiness?
