When IS troops marched into the Syrian city of Raqqa, the resistance group "Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently" (RBSS) turned on its cameras. The neo-journalists attempted to document the brutal rule of the IS and to present their own images and information in opposition to the ubiquitous propaganda. It was not long before the first members of the group had to escape the terror happening on their very own doorstep. Filmmaker Matthew Heineman tracked down and accompanied these exiled resistance fighters in Turkey and Germany. The result is CITY OF GHOSTS, an impressive portrayal of young men who continue to rise up against an overpowering and inhuman enemy while struggling with the helplessness they experience in the face of their own exile and the devastating consequences of war.
