Can a couple love each other and still not be ‘right’ for one another? How do you break up when you want to continue the friendship? Celeste and Jesse met at high school and have been an almost perfect couple ever since. But now they want a divorce. Celeste is in her early thirties and has hit the ground running with her media consulting company. Jesse, on the other hand, has no definite plans for his career and is unemployed, which places a strain on their relationship. Celeste suggests a way out: split now and keep the friendship intact. They do so, but Jesse still secretly loves his dear Celeste. The two remain best friends and continue to share their troubles and joys – until, one day, Jesse meets another woman and Celeste begins to doubt her well-thought-out plan.
