Between the Rains

"Only nature deserves our fear," is what elders of the Turkana tribe give to understand. Settled in a Kenyan village, the Turkana are directly affected by climate change. The increasingly severe droughts exacerbate the struggle for survival and lead to conflict. Over the course of four years, BETWEEN THE RAINS captures the everyday life of the Turkana and follows the young boy Kole as he evolves from shepherd to tribal warrior. The moving coming-of-age story shows what it means to live in a community steeped in tradition. At the same time, the profound documentary acts as a wake-up call, using striking images to point out the devastating consequences of climate change.
