Rebecca Zlotowski|Coming of Age

Just a few days after the death of her mother, 17-year-old Prudence Friedman finds herself alone in the apartment where her parents once lived. Her father now lives abroad and has little contact. She befriends Marilyne, a high school misfit, who introduces her to the Rungis circuit, an illegal racetrack in greater Paris where souped-up mopeds and muscle motorbikes meet to take part in exciting and dangerous races. Prudence is as fascinated by the nightly tests of courage as she is by the Rungis clique and falls in with this alcohol drinking, sex and motorbike obsessed crowd – but the death of her mother continues to pray heavily on her mind. What seems to Prudence like freedom is actually an oppressive feeling of solitude.
