Antebellum

Veronica is a successful writer from Virginia, who leads a modern life with her family as part of New York’s upper class. After a heady night on the town, she suddenly finds herself trapped as a slave on a cotton plantation. The world in which whites subjugate blacks is reminiscent of the time of segregation in the southern states. Together with other African Americans, Veronica tries to escape the nightmare. ANTEBELLUM is a refined and original political horror movie with a twist that could hardly be more topical against the background of the Black Lives Matter debate. Janelle Monáe, also known as a musician and model, proves in the leading role that she is one of Hollywood’s most exciting young character actresses.
