Garden facility become parking lots and ski slopes become gravel roads: The threatened territory of the Alps has been changing ever more drastically for years. Filmmaker Robert Schabus interviews people in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy. He has visited small farms and noble winter sports resorts, followed snow machines and witnessed a tragic fall into the depths. The result is a picture of a living space that requires special attention, and not only because of its topography. In ALPENLAND we go on a cinematic journey through a threatened mountain region and learn about the personal stories of people who are as versatile as the mountain peaks they continue to populate.
