Artist Ai Weiwei spent 81 days behind bars. The charismatic jack-of-all-trades is still a thorn in the Chinese government’s eye and since his release has lived under house arrest and constant police observation. Danish filmmaker Andreas Johnsen accompanies Ai Weiwei on his difficult journey back to ‘normality’, and demonstrates how he uses both the backing of the public and the international media as a protective shield.
