Ernest Cole: Lost and Found
Raoul Peck|Dokumentarfilm
In 1967, the Black photographer Ernest Cole published a photo book exposing the horrors of apartheid in his homeland, South Africa. The book was banned by the regime, forcing Cole to migrate to the United States, where he died in poverty. Years later, 60,000 of his photographs were discovered in a Swedish bank safe. In his wonderful documentary, Raoul Peck uses these images and archival footage to paint a portrait of an important artist who was denied recognition during his lifetime. A moving portrait that resonates long after!
