New World View: Iran
To celebrate the winter solstice, a group of students meets each year at a lake in northern Iran to fly kites together. While some look forward to the annual reunion, others end up wandering unsettled through the nearby forest. Last year, however, one of the students mysteriously disappeared. There are rumours that it has been said that a restaurant nearby prepares meals made with human flesh. Before long, two mysterious strangers turn up at the campsite... Shahram Mokri’s multi award-winning key film is told in an elaborately choreographed, without-a-cut single shot: FISH & CAT carries us off into an irresolvable loop of time and space. An unsettling yet fascinating nightmare.
