Diana

by Oliver Hirschbiegel Gala Premieres

In the mid-1990s, she was the most photographed woman in the world, and the media followed every of her steps. Sixteen years after her tragic death, the first Princess of Wales biopic is released. DIANA tells the story of the last two years of a troubled life in the public eye. Following the breakdown of her marriage to Prince Charles, Lady Di found her great love in the Pakistani-British heart surgeon Hasnat Khan. While cleverly using her popularity for humanitarian causes, Diana was less successful in private matters. Her relationship to Khan collapsed under the pressure of enormous media interest. On the 31st of August 1997, the car in which Dianna was riding crashed into the wall of the Alma tunnel in Paris, her new lover Dody Al-Fayed seated next to her. DIANA is a story about great love and the downside of fame.
