Window: Hong Kong
In this beautiful omnibus film, seven legendary Hong Kong directors each present a story that connects them to their hometown. Sammo Hung, for example, nostalgically recalls his martial arts training as a young boy; Patrick Tam's episode deals with the intensity of his first great love; and Johnni To packs the SARS epidemic into a black comedy about three friends who invest in stocks. Against the backdrop of current events in Hong Kong, SEPTET: THE STORY OF HONG KONG is all the more an enjoyably nostalgic remembrance film about a city that will probably no longer exist in this form.
