German citizen Maria collapses in tears after unexpectedly hearing a lullaby melody at Buenos Aires airport. She misses her connecting flight and decides to remain where she is. Strangely, she finds herself feeling at home in the city. However, her life is immediately thrown into turmoil when her father, shocked by the news, flies in from Germany to confess that he is not her biological parent.
