The Queen of Versailles

by Lauren Greenfield Gala Premieres

Private jets. Huge villas. Presidents. According to billionaire holiday home tycoon David Siegel, there’s nothing that money cannot buy. He lives the American dream, and does so together with his extravagant wife Jackie, 30 years his junior. Because their huge property has grown too small for them, they decide to build another. The Siegel’s plan to build the largest private residence in America based on the royal palace at Versailles, to house them, their children and their staff. The shell of the building is complete when the American financial crisis hits in 2008 and property prices fall through the floor. Although the Siegels are on the verge of ruin, they are determined to hold on to “Versailles” at all costs.
