Storm Boy

by Shawn Seet ZFF for Kids

STORM BOY is an adaptation of the eponymous 1963 children’s book classic by Colin Thiele, which almost everyone in Australia knows. A successful businessman tells his granddaughter that he was once an idealistic boy. On the south coast of Australia he raised Pelican babies together with a friendly Aborigine after their mother was shot by poachers. Once the animals had grown up, the poachers returned. Oscar- winning producer Geoffrey Rush’s drama is extremely up to date: it deals with the coexistence of different cultures and the fragile balance between man and nature, illustrating that environmental activism by teenagers has the ability to turn the minds of adults.
