It is Agnes' birthday. While her guests are enjoying themselves in the living room, Agnes is scrubbing dishes in the kitchen before serving the cake. For years, the needs of her two pubescent children and her husband have been her priority. When she discovers a thousand-piece jigsaw among her pile of gifts, she realises, to her surprise, that she is able to piece it together within a few hours – twice! When she comes across an ad placed by an equally enthusiastic puzzler looking for a partner for an upcoming contest, Agnes grabs the opportunity to deepen her newly discovered talent. She soon finds herself standing at the door of the mysterious and charismatic Robert, which marks the beginning of her emancipation.
