Archive 2010: International Documentary Film / Competition
In February 1984, a socially diverse group of Austrian freedom fighters makes its way to Sandinista-run Nicaragua after the forced removal of the Samoza family. In times of international solidarity, the “February 34” labour brigade wants to do its share and build structures in Nicaragua that are based on models already implemented in Cuba. One supporter explains that February 1934 was when Austrian workers first rose up and rebelled against fascism, and they will now make their way to Central America and stop US-American imperialism. EINMAL MEHR ALS NUR REDEN is both a re-narration and eyewitness account, a reconstruction of the Marxist and liberation theology-inspired enterprise using archive material and present-day interviews.
