Archive 2010: International Documentary Film / Competition
This film documents the story of a broken Chinese family. Like 130 million other migrants, the Zhangs leave their children in the care of their grandparents and travel to the city to earn money allowing them to provide a better education and life for their offspring. The alienation between parents and children is obvious when they return to the village for the Chinese New Year. The situation escalates and both parents find themselves forced into re-considering their scheme of life when their daughter Qin accuses them of parental neglect and drops out of school to head for the city.
