Nine New Film Titles in the programme
18. September 2012The Zurich Film Festival management has included a further nine films in the programme: A Gala Premiere, four Special Screenings and four titles in a Helen Hunt retrospective. The ZFF will now show a total of 120 films at 315 screenings.
Galas and Special Screenings
AT ANY PRICE by Ramin Bahrani is a new addition to the Gala Premiere section. Set on a farm in Iowa and starring Zac Efron, Dennis Quaid and Heather Graham, it can be viewed on Friday (28.09) and Saturday (29.09) in corso 1. Actress Heather Graham will be present at both screenings. IN MY MOTHER'S ARMS by jury member Mohamed Al-Daradji has been added to the Special Screenings section. This documentary highlights the cruel fate of orphaned children in Beirut, whose parents have either been killed or kidnapped. The director will be present at the screening. The Russian feature film DOM – A RUSSIAN FAMILY by Oleg Pogodin is a further addition to the Special Screenings section. LIBELLE UND DAS NASHORN by Lola Randl is a film from Germany that will also join the line-up in the Special Screenings section. It tells of the chance meeting of a young female writer (Fritzi Haberlandt) and an ageing acting star (Mario Adorf), after they find themselves stranded in a Luxury hotel in Dortmund. Last but not least, the ZFF presents a great classic: Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film THE SHINING, after a novel by Stephen King bearing the same name and starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. This extended version Special Screening contains a full 24 minutes of original extra material. The film now runs for 166 minutes.
Helen Hunt Retrospective
The retrospective for US actress Helen Hunt includes four of her most important films. She made her cinema breakthrough in 1996 with TWISTER. This was followed a year later by the comedy AS GOOD AS IT GETS; Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson both received the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Lead Actor/Actress. In 2000, Helen Hunt appeared alongside Mel Gibson in WHAT WOMEN WANT. She gave her directing debut and played the lead in the 2007 comedy THEN SHE FOUND ME.
