New World View: Multifaceted Film from Sweden

22. September 2012

This year sees Northern European cinema highlighted for the first time when Sweden steps up to the mark as the ZFF’s New World View guest country. The section opens tonight with the unconventional melodrama KYSS MIG, a concert by swedish indie-rock duo Friska Viljor and a Swedish-themed party at the Papiersaal. In WOMEN WITH COWS, Peter Gerdehag follows Inger and Britt, two fascinating ladies who have very different ideas about what leading a fulfilled life means. In the much-discussed drama PLAY, Ruben Östlund deals with racist clichés and shows how deeply they sit within all of us. In a fascinating journey back in time, CORNELIS portrays the legendary musician Cornelis Vreeswijk before the backdrop of Sweden in the 60s and 70s. With SNABBA CASH II, the ZFF also screens two fast-paced and highly acclaimed action thrillers. The New World View section’s now traditional short film block offers eight exciting insights into current Swedish film production.
