Awards for Great Britain, the USA, Germany and Austria
30. September 2012The four juries of the 8th Zurich Film Festival competition categories have presented their awards to Great Britain (International Feature Film), the USA (International Documentary Film), Germany (German-Language Feature Film) and Austria (German-Language Documentary Film).
The awards go to BROKEN by Rufus Norris (Great Britain), THE IMPOSTER by Bart Layton (USA), AM HIMMEL DER TAG by Pola Beck (Germany) and DER PROZESS by Gerald Igor Hauzenberger (Austria). Each of the awards is endowed with a CHF 20'000 cash prize, and a CHF 60'000 non-cash prize for promotion of the respective film in Swiss cinemas.
The Critics’ Award goes to EL ULTIMO ELVIS by Armando Bo from Argentina. The Swiss documentary film APPASSIONATA by Christian Labhart receives the Audience Award. Four of the six winning films are debut works.

- ANFANG 80 (Austria) for actors Christine Ostermayer and Karl Merkatz
- OH BOY (Germany) for director Jan-Ole Gerster
German-Language Documentary Film Competition
- DER PROZESS by Gerald Igor Hauzenberger (Austria)
Special Mention to:
- OUTING by Sebastian Meise and Thomas Reider (Austria)
Critics’ Award
The three critics from the Schweizerischen Verband der Filmjournalistinnen und Filmjournalisten (SVFJ) gave their award to the Best Debut Film from either of the two feature film competition categories.
The SVFJ Critics’ Award goes to:
- EL ULTIMO ELVIS by Armando Bo (Argentina)
Audience Award
The Audience Award is presented to a film from any of the four competition categories.
The Audience Award goes to:
- APPASSIONATA by Christian Labhart (Switzerland)
